About Saifrood Unity and Aid Organization (SUAO)

Our Journey and Identity

At Saifrood Unity and Aid Organization (SUAO), our programs are built with the purpose of creating lasting, transformative impact across the communities we serve. We are driven by a firm belief in the power of resilience, the inherent dignity of every individual, and the potential that emerges when people are equipped with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to thrive independently.

We work to unlock these opportunities by focusing on long-term, sustainable development in key areas such as education, healthcare, vocational training, women’s empowerment, and livelihood support. Every initiative we undertake is designed to respond to real needs on the ground and to empower communities to shape their own futures.

From Jameghor to Saifrood: A Shift in Purpose and Identity

Originally established under the name Jameghor Charity Organization (JCO), our organization has a long-standing history of humanitarian work in western Afghanistan, particularly in the provinces of Ghor, Herat, and Badghis. Over the years, JCO built a reputation for compassion, reliability, and deep community engagement. However, as the media environment evolved, the name “Jameghor” became increasingly associated with a separate cultural and political website, which—though valuable in its own context—was unrelated to our humanitarian mission.

To preserve the integrity of our work and clarify our distinct identity, we made the strategic decision to rebrand. Thus, Saifrood Unity and Aid Organization (SUAO) was born—a name inspired by the Saifrood region, a symbol of unity, endurance, and historical richness. This transition reflects our commitment to keeping our humanitarian efforts free from political or cultural affiliations, ensuring that our actions and identity remain solely focused on charity, service, and development.

A Name That Reflects Our Values

“Saifrood” represents more than a place—it reflects our principles of unity, collective action, and deep-rooted commitment to community wellbeing. The name embodies the essence of our mission: to stand beside the underserved, to act with humility and strength, and to bring light where it is most needed. It also pays homage to the landscapes and people we serve—resilient communities that, like the river (rood) that flows through the region, carry both memory and momentum forward.

Continuity with a Renewed Vision

While our name has changed, our values, team, and dedication remain the same. We carry forward the knowledge, trust, and partnerships we built under JCO, while enhancing our structure and expanding our impact as SUAO.

Our vision is to build a future filled with hope, opportunity, and dignity for all. As we continue this journey, we remain committed to:

  • Transparency in all operations and partnerships
  • Community-led development grounded in local ownership
  • Inclusivity, ensuring that no one is left behind—especially women, returnees, persons with disabilities, and marginalized populations
  • Sustainability, designing programs that grow beyond the project timeline

We welcome collaborators, partners, and donors to join us in this mission. Together, we can transform challenges into opportunities and turn hope into tangible progress.
