Saifrood Unity and Aid Organization (SUAO), as part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts and commitment to supporting vulnerable and conflict-displaced families affected by border clashes between Afghanistan and Pakistan, successfully distributed emergency cash assistance to 186 affected families in Alisher District of Khost Province.
The distribution program was conducted on Tuesday, 12 May 2026, in a transparent, organized, and well-coordinated manner, with the participation of government officials, community elders, local representatives, security personnel, and monitoring teams.
The cash assistance was provided under the project:
“Emergency Response for Conflict-Displaced Families along the Afghanistan–Pakistan Border”
This project was financially supported by the Danish Emergency Relief Fund (DERF) and jointly implemented by Rebuild Aid and Saifrood Unity and Aid Organization (SUAO).
The beneficiary families were selected from the villages of Chargotai, Zakarkhail, Sadak, Landar, Kotkai, Yorom, and Babrak Tana in Alisher District. These areas, due to their sensitive geographical location near the Afghanistan–Pakistan border, have been severely affected in recent months by armed conflicts, forced displacement, destruction of homes, loss of livelihoods, and worsening economic and social conditions.
The primary objective of this project was to provide immediate humanitarian support to conflict-affected families, reduce economic hardship, prevent the escalation of the humanitarian crisis, and support vulnerable groups, particularly women, children, elderly people, persons with disabilities, and female-headed households.
During the distribution process, Mr. Farid Ahmad Yari, Project Manager, stated:
“We are committed to delivering humanitarian assistance in the most transparent, fair, and effective manner possible to those genuinely in need. The purpose of this program is not only the distribution of cash assistance, but also the protection of human dignity and the reduction of the daily hardships faced by families affected by recent crises.”
He further added that the field teams of Saifrood Unity and Aid Organization conducted comprehensive assessments and worked closely with local authorities and community representatives to identify the most vulnerable households and ensure assistance reached deserving beneficiaries.
Mr. Abdullah Samim, President of Saifrood Unity and Aid Organization, expressed appreciation for the cooperation of local authorities, community elders, security institutions, and residents, stating:
“We sincerely appreciate the support and cooperation of the Khost Provincial Department of Economy, Alisher District authorities, security forces, community elders, development councils, and all individuals and institutions who contributed to facilitating this humanitarian response. This coordination and mutual trust play a vital role in the successful implementation of humanitarian projects.”
He further emphasized:
“Saifrood Unity and Aid Organization remains committed to standing beside the people of Afghanistan, especially families affected by conflicts, natural disasters, and humanitarian crises. We believe that solidarity, social participation, and close cooperation between humanitarian organizations and communities can significantly reduce the suffering of vulnerable families.”
Mr. Samim also highlighted that a total of 300 vulnerable families across different districts of Khost Province have been covered under this project, and the assistance process in other target areas has now been successfully completed.
He additionally referred to the organization’s broader humanitarian, social, and development activities implemented in recent years, including:
- Cash assistance and legal counseling for Afghan returnees from Iran
- Emergency support for earthquake-affected families in Kunar Province
- Cash assistance for internally displaced families
- Social and legal support services for vulnerable groups
- Educational and sports activities for youth
- Humanitarian response planning for flood-affected communities in Badghis Province
The assistance distribution process was monitored by representatives from the Department of Economy of Khost Province, Alisher District local administration, village representatives, community elders, security authorities, and independent monitoring teams to ensure transparency, fairness, and proper access for all eligible beneficiaries.
At the conclusion of the program, officials from Saifrood Unity and Aid Organization expressed hope that the assistance provided would help address the urgent needs of affected families and contribute to stronger and more sustainable support for vulnerable communities in the future.
